Loading... Please wait...Electronic Air Cleaners work by electrically charging and collecting airborne contaminants. As these contaminants collect, the collector plates and Pre-Filter become extremely dirty. With an excessive amount of contamination build up on the collector plates and the Pre-Filter, Electronic Air Cleaner's efficiency decreases. Also, as dirt builds up, the snapping noise will occur with greater frequency.
To prevent the loss of efficiency, the Electronic Cell and Pre-Filter must be cleaned regularly. How often will depend on the usage. Variables, such as number of occupants, pets and smoke determine how often the Air Cleaner requires cleaning. Usually the cleaning interval will be between once a month for smokers to once every three months in non smoking environments. (Recommended)
Remove the Pre-Filter and shake out or brush off the accumulated dust and lint. If this is not adequate, a vacuum may be used, or the Pre-Filter can be cleaned with Electronic Cell Cleaner Fluid to remove tobacco smoke and cooking grease stains. A thorough rinsing is required after each cleaning. Allow Pre-Filter to stand until completely dry.
Occasionally, the Carbon Filter will need cleaning. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove the exterior dirt. The odor absorption capabilities of the carbon last between three and six months. Do not leave the Carbon Filter in the machine for longer than six months. Once it is saturated, it will begin to offload. This is the #1 cause of motor damage.
Turn the Air Cleaner off. A soft, damp, lint-free cloth may be used to remove dirt and fingerprints from painted surfaces, grills and top panels. Never use and abrasive cleaner on the cabinet.
Remove the Electronic Cell from the Electronic Air Cleaner. If cell is extremely dirty, lightly rinse off outside with hose. Be careful not to bend or bang collecting plates. Submerge the cell in warm to hot water for 5 minutes. Remove cell from the water and spray cell down thoroughly with Electronic Cell Cleaner Fluid. Allow to stand for 5 minutes. Change water in tub and then submerge cell in fresh warm to hot water for 5 minutes. Rinse, shake out, and allow to stand until completely dry. (Over night) If you put the filters back in the Air Cleaner still damp or wet serious arching will occur. A hair dryer may be used to speed up the drying time.
Do not wash collecting cell in dishwasher. Never use any object to clean between the cell plates as this may cause damage to the plates or ionizing wires. Never place the cell in an oven to dry.
